Happy Trails and Best Wishes...

Hi everyone,

This is the last post for the Beachburg Sub. I am in a situation where many factors are preventing me from giving this blog the attention I feel it needs. I am just not able to get out there trackside and I don't see this changing anytime soon. I also have a number of work/community/school/family commitments that are taking up the lion's share of my time.

More than anything, I am trying to achieve some sort of balance in my life in the midst of the pandemic and this has required sacrifices. Sadly, this blog is one of those things that I love to do, but I just don't have any material or time left for it.

The rail situation in Ottawa is bleak, just as it was when I first began blogging years ago. If anything, it's gotten worse. This is not a place where one can reasonably expect to railfan and blog about contemporary railways with any regularity.

So, I will just say thank you to everyone who has contacted me over the years. I will still try to get out trackside and share my photos in other forums, but it won't be here. I am going to leave this blog up, just for the sake of those who wish to read older posts. Maybe at some point in the future, I will be able to pick this up again. So, let's leave the door open a crack. Never say never.

But, for now, I'm calling it a day.

Thanks,

Michael

Enjoyed your posts, and I know how hard it can be to devote your time to something that may or may not be!

Wicked job, and hope to hear from you again!

Hi Michael, I'm sad but not surprised to hear this. I'm glad you are focusing on the things most important to you, and I wish you well. I am also happy that you are leaving the blog up for others to read, and for everyone to refer to in the future. If you ever want to write a guest post, let me know!

Thanks for the great blog all these years. Hopefully if you ever start up again, there will still be freight trains in Ottawa to talk about.

Thanks for putting so much into this over the years. I'm grateful to have learned so much here about our region's rail history. You're a very good researcher, writer, and photographer!

Hey bud. I appreciate everything you have done here over the years. I have thoroughly enjoyed checking in here every couple of weeks over the years. Its sad to see you move on, but I do get it. I have a fledgling podcast that I have trouble finding time for myself. I find podcasting easier, so I can only imagine the time you take for prep, writing, editing, etc. Its a huge commitment.

Hopefully a day comes where you can get back at it. You can count me in on coming back as a reader. You'll definitely be missed and Ottawa railfanning definitely lost a great resource!

All the best for you and your family!
