Ottawa is ...I've seen that conductor for years. Ottawa is no man's land for CN. Other than the local crews, they have no real presence here, I am guessing. Security at the yard is contracted out. Anything requiring operational work seems to come from Quebec. Via takes care of the Smiths Falls Sub (RailTerm), Nylene Canada owns and maintains the Renfrew Spur. CN's trackage here is the small slice of the Beachburg Sub left over from the old days. Not much need for anything but the bare minimum.Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07917230984518214781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3680264279342137192.post-59255173891119007532021-08-23T12:47:25.113-04:002021-08-23T12:47:25.113-04:00It is a violation of CN's rules for an employe...It is a violation of CN's rules for an employee to ride the platform of a tank car in a shoving movement. On a bad day, with very little shelter from the wind, it would be a tough ride.

And not to worry, I intend to share posts and pictures from Sarnia, Stratford, Kingston, Kitchener and Toronto in the months to come. It's been a very fruitful railfanning summer by my standards.Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07917230984518214781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3680264279342137192.post-68481841547825002732021-08-17T11:20:47.997-04:002021-08-17T11:20:47.997-04:00Good to see you back Mike. I enjoy reading about trains in a part of Ontario that a lot of people never get to see, but should.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3680264279342137192.post-65107642307999012922021-08-17T09:58:21.750-04:002021-08-17T09:58:21.750-04:00Very nice scouting and a great catch. It would be a lot rougher in bad weather.

I don't mind seeing 589 at all - these "small" movements are really interesting.Steve Boykohttps://www.traingeek.canoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3680264279342137192.post-1730535063797604422021-08-17T09:23:46.295-04:002021-08-17T09:23:46.295-04:00Good scouting, timing and awareness while at the s...Good scouting, timing and awareness while at the station, Michael. How long would that baackup move be, keeping the trainman riding that last tank car?

Glad to see the reunion tour underway! That fallow field is no longer fallow - it's corn!
